This dynamic opportunity is offered to eligible Citizens of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government who are seeking high quality training and certifications to launch their careers as drone pilots.

Yes. Beginning January 20th, 2025, and ending March 21st, 2025, participants will be expected to be dedicated to the program during core business hours.

The first 8 weeks are conducted almost entirely online, in a virtual classroom which includes: daily check-ins, virtual presentations, independent and group study, and for key certifications such as First Aid, in-person training, details of which will be shared during an initial assessment. The last week of training will be conducted at Métis Crossing; this includes a 5-night stay at Métis Crossing, meals included.

A modern laptop or desktop computer will be required to ensure quality participation in the online learning environment. Transportation to and from Métis Crossing for the final week of training will be required, along with transportation to key training sites within individual geographic communities.

The program is designed for highly-motivated individuals who will accept and seek opportunities to connect with potential employers throughout the during of the program. A significant emphasis will be placed on portfolio creation to aid with securing a job post-program completion. Program staff are well-equipped to support meaningful job-acquisition for each individual program participant.

Included in the 9-week program: online learning classroom and downloadable materials, soft and hard copies of Rupertsland Foundation Themes resources, test fees for certifications and tickets, 5-nights lodging and meals at Métis Crossing, daily connection with program administrators and instructors

The program is an intensive 9-weeks during which a serious commitment of full-time + hours is required to ensure participation in all training, presentations and self-study components. The Advanced RPAS online test is a challenging pre-requisite for the flight test that will be held at Métis Crossing. A serious commitment to employment in the field of drone operations will be of key importance when considering program eligibility.

During each phase of the program, experts will provide you with information, resources, and steps to achieve certification in key areas related to Drone Operations in Alberta and beyond. In addition to proprietary RPAS training designed by Métis-owned and operated InFlight Data, training includes Transport Canada testing, industry-expertise seminars, and a combination of self-directed, group, virtual and in-person training.
